Space Wedging
As an economical(poor) student, I resort to public transport which I never had to endeavour back home. Being a good passenger, I always give up my seat to 'babies in pram', disabled, old (or even people who look vulnerable). Today, I learnt a new phrase they call 'Wedging of Space'--- or better known as 'sip wai' in cantonese.
For example, I was sat in the front (so that I could get out easily when the bus begins to fill up) and a woman with her baby in the pram struggled to get unto the bus. My natural instincts was to give up my seat and move to the next available seat.
TO MY AMAZEMENT, these two young girls were quick to the vacancies and wedged their buttocks comfortably on the seat that I was on, that was meant to be vacated for the lady and her baby in the pram.
The whole bus stared at them but they seemed oblivious to their surroundings?!??! GOSH! Smack'em in their heads and call them JUDY! Some people need to instill 'manners' back into the society!
ps: seriously, I dare you to watch out for them space wedgers in public transports! Or even whilst u're driving!
