Onion vs Garlic: Battle le Finale

Those of you who know me will know I hate onion and garlic. The sight, the smell... everything about it puts me off... BUT those are the very important ingredients in our rich Malaysian dishes! So my sensitive bowel has had to come to a compromise of an acceptable dosage/intake of onion and garlic per day... But what is the limit and what are the consequences? I set out for an experiment... 2 special dishes were prepared for the purpose of this experiment. One filled with onions, the other with garlic.

Dish 1: Ploff/ Osh (I don't know how to spell it but it's a famous Tajik meal). The trick is to chop the onion into very fine cubes then sweat and melt it with oil so you don't even see those little buggers. Other ingredients are then added into it (I used minced chicken and carrots). After that, the dish is topped with rice and cooked until rice is ready.

Dish 2: Bak Kut Teh. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it's a soup dish with loads of herbs, garlic (whole), meat and soysauce.

Both dishes were prepared in advance and tested on separate days (thank God for that.. you'll see why).

Previously: Bak Kut Teh. I had it the first thing in the morning and because I'm living on my own at the moment, I'm forced to have the same thing for the rest of the day.
Results: Nothing out of the usual other than TERRIBLE breath and gurgling gastric for undesirable burps.
Today: Ploff. Again, had it first thing in the morning and not having learnt my lesson, it was 3 portions too much and I had it for lunch and dinner again.
Results: Squirming stomach and release of gases so horrible I had to use air freshener for my whole flat. Within approx 4 hours of consummation was fairy action in the toilet department. Yes, I have visited Mr. Fairy 3 times today and the stomach is still rumbling.
Conclusion: Chong Ee Min has IBS and should steer clear of onion & garlic products when a toilet is not at sight/ convenient or if she has any sense of dignity. (Reminds me of the story of the man with baked beans...)

ps: apologies for lack of visual due to my deeply penetrated hate for those stinky products. No offense to onion or garlic lovers.
