Lex Luthor Vs Crown Prince of Dubai

I've been struck by a sudden wave of dejavu!

Saw the return of superman and how Lex Luthor was mad at making 'land' as that was priceless. Money is just 'I.O.U's on paper, but land is something else. You make land, you build stuff on it, your investment increases ten folds. GENIUS! But who would've actually imagined that it could come to life???
Dubai realised that they will run out of oil in about 20 years so the crown prince decided to transform Dubai into a luxury travel destination to keep the money flowing in. In order to fuel his dreams, he opted to undertake a massive building project to create a series of artificial islands in the shape of a palm tree. The massive island structure is protected by the circular barrier, and the land is covered with apartments, condos and luxury getaways of all kinds.

From right to left:
Big pineapple looking thingy (building underway).
The 'infamous' world (teeny from afar).
The original palm island surrounded by a protective barrier.
A similar palm tree island design, only this time, surrounded by the crown prince's own poetic tributes!
Semi crescent shaped coast line??

No doubt it is an ingenius idea and planned to the detail, but isn't there something seriously wrong about this? Like a gut feeling? So if Dubai can do it, why the hell did superman have to go and stop Lex Luthor? Does that mean one can do anything as long as you have the money? Heck I can build an island off Terengganu and I'll call it e-paradise?
